Advice on what to do after incident on motorway.

I've just got in from work and on the way home I saw a liveried van cut up a camper, forcing it to change lane. They then cut me up at a very very close distance so I beeped, received the usual middle finger salute. Carried on my journey and over took the van but they then stormed up next to me and launched a full bottle at my windscreen, which it did hit with some force before speeding off. I have the company name, telephone number and reg number. Should I report it to the police even though there was no damage, ring the company tomorrow and report it to them or both? All input welcome and thanx for reading.

I would have no hesitation in doing both of the above. How likely is it that the driver is the business owner?

I'd report them to the police for dangerous driving. I'd also contact the company and let them know what happened. No harm in doing either. What the hell is wrong with these people?! Do they just walk through life permanently angry or do they just get that way when they get behind the wheel?! Either way you can get some satisfaction from knowing that they are on a one way road to a stress induced coronary.

Ron, no chance it was the owner as it was 2 topless scrotes in the van so definitely making a call to them tomorrow to see what the management/owner has to say about the matter. And will mention reporting them to the police for dangerous driving. Thank god I haven't picked my rcz up yet otherwise I'd be wanting blood!

Can't imagine the company will do much, but the coppers might at least feel their collars!

My Mam was run off the road by a dump truck and totalled their car, Dad went to the company and let rip but no action was taken. None either by the coppers by what I can gather ("no-one was hurt" I think was the general concensus). They got away with it. Luckily it was just an insurance job.

If it was our company, then I can assure you, that a very dim view would be taken. Disciplinary action would be guaranteed. I guess it all depends upon the type of company they work for.

Definitely report it to both the company and the police - what harm can it do - might make them think twice in the future.

Agree with the others - report it to the company and police. Why should people be allowed to get away with this sort of behaviour??

Thanx all for your replies and yes all is fine with me. Update time. I contacted the company this morning and to no surprise they weren't really interested, just said they'd have a word and that's it. Spoke to the police also and due to no one being injured and no damaged caused then there's not much they could do, no witnesses so my word against theirs so there you go. If your a law abiding citizen then just lump it, might turn into a yob or hooligan as it seems its perfectly acceptable these days.

I would be very surprised if the incident was not captured on camera, almost everything else is these days. However, as you have discovered they are not interested as it is low priority. They have much better things to do with their time, like zooming around with their "blue an two's" Unfortunately your unpleasant incident doesn't warrant six high value performance cars screaming in to block off the roads and create havoc for other road users.
I await the with unbridled anticipation of the fiscal cuts biting into the police budget resulting into them only being able to afford to send an appropriate response to road traffic incidents.
So sorry about your experience chuzzbutt, however quite frankly not surprised by the reaction that you have received.

Hi Cheese Buttie,

You know the name of the Firm - won't take you long to find out where their based.
Pop round and "have a word".

It's amazing how these "Heroes" suddenly quiver and quake when actually confronted.

So really it could be any body that had rented the vehicle? So not necessarily an employee?
