Hello everyone,

Joined the site as I'm in the search for a cherished vehicle:

I'm after a 200bhp rcz, few owners, under 55000 miles, mot 8 to 12 months no advisories or a RCZ R with same credentials.

Would pay up to 4000 pounds if chain done and fsh and 7500 for the R with fsh and chain done. Must be manual and prepared to travel UK for right vehicle and owner

Hope to hear soon from you all Colin North Wales

You might need a bit of a contingency on top of your prices.
Good luck with your search, let us know how you get on..

I wouldn’t worry too much about the chain. At this mileage there will be many still on the original chain. It’s a plus if replaced, but if everything else is according to your liking, I wouldn’t walk away. Originality is also very important imho.

If the car is as cherished as all that then the chain will be good for a lot longer than that. As long as the oil situation has been well looked after here will be no issues.

there will be very well looked after higher milars than that you maybe shouldn’t sniff at. Might get them cheaper. And leave yourself some wedge for preventative maintenance.
Buy well regardless and you’ll enjoy the car. Particularly the R if you get one.
If I’d listened to the Eeyores I’d never have bought one (a200). It’s been brilliant. It’s dailied and it’s not being driven gently either 😁 It’s one of the best cars I’ve owned/dtiven. Good luck 👌🏼

I agree about the chain lasting. I know of a few R’s which got their chain replaced at around 90k miles. Mine is just at 12k and I was worried about the age (10 years). But thinking about it and discussing with some knowledgeable people I came to the conclusion a metal chain does not age. Only the guides might somewhat and the tensioner might. Just look for a well looked after Z and you’ll be fine. Good luck!

just my thoughts obviously, you may well find a 200bhp rcz for £4000 ish with most of the boxes ticked, an R however for £7500 won’t fit your criteria at all, my R has 78k and is worth upwards of £7500. Also surely most of rcz’s will have had the timing chain replaced by now, some will be due a second chain soon. don’t forget these are now 10 year old+ cars.
good luck with your search, if you go for an R you won’t regret it!
