So, I changed the number plates about a week ago. They were the original metal ones, and the front one was slightly bent from the previous owner. Took the screws out and went with just adhesive, acrylic plates… no buzzing sound since! Bizarre. But I had that exact same “wasp in a tin can” sound...

I’ve got this exact same issue on my 200. 64 plate, 35k miles. Noise occurs at 3000rpm, only when it’s cold outside and disappears after the car has warmed up. Doesn’t happen at all over summer. Only noticed it as it’s gotten colder over the last few months, and assumed it was a heat shield...
