USB/ Flash Stick

On realising that I no longer needed to carry wallets of CD's in my new Pug RCZ, I spent hours transferring all my CD music from my LapTop onto a Flash Stick so that I could be clutter free in this comfortable cabin and enjoy the music accordingly. For some reason, however, I cannot get a peep out of it. Any Ideas where I may be going wrong. The screen shows an image of a Portable device Plug, then an error message pops up saying that it is not recognised. ( Should I only be playing French music ?)
Your comments would be appreciated. : Help Please.

Hi all have a blue gt 156 vision pack and sports pack should get in october with a bit of luck

I had a demo gt for a few hours and used a usb flash drive worked ok and also used a 500gb usb hard drive with mp3s on this did not work it may be to do with the the format of the drive flash drive are fat32 and hard drive can be fat32 or ntfs there could be a limit to amount of songs you can use just like on the cd player it has to have no more than a 100 track per cd folder could be the same for usb drives as this was what i had found out on my 207gt150 which has the same radio.

500GB Seagate drive (49.99 from PC World) Format using MacDrive (free demo download you only need to use once to format the drive)
then its works perfectly.
Even folder'd playlists show on the RCZ display.

(this is all from memory as I've not had my RCZ for a while now) *sob*

It's not like the PS3 is it where you have to create a folder called 'MUSIC' before it will recognise the tracks in it? Otherwise I would have thought the formattuing would be the issue. Can't imagine that it needs activating. I also doubt the guys at the dealership will know, unless you've got someone interested in IT. I'd call them first to prevent a wasted journey.

Re: USB/ Flash Stick dont use hard drives manual downloads

http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/

check this link out download the manual click the flags to uk then button to side go to bottom of page in the box public access click link then rcz on next page all manuals come up in pdf format . the book says that we should not use a harddrive only flashdrive sticks with 128kbs files only no higher and must be fat/f32 only.

this is free and you will need acrobat reader to view

Guys you're all barking up the wrong tree.

The manual tells you what type of files will work using a memory stick. itunes are on MPEG 4 which won't work. You must convert your music files to .wma or one of the other ones shown in the manual. You can download a piece of free software to convert your music files to .wma or mp3 etc

good luck

As most of us have not got our cars yet or have had a quick look around a demo we would not know what format works best that is why people ask the questions for help on the forums lets hope the manual download helps.

good luck to all thanks :eusa-think:

Good Evening All,

Over the last few days I tried the USB stick and that worked perfectly using Windows Media Player and copying the files directly to the USB. A few problems with the quality as it was very poor initially so I upped the RIP quality to max and right quality to max, I believe this to be 128kbs. This was a fairly decent quality so after reading this post, I decided to go out and buy a hard drive and try what VASS suggested. Even though Peugoet clearly don't know what their system is capable of, VASS did. I decided to buy seagate 250kb drive from PC World, £34, then formatted it to fat32 and then write some 60+ albums to it at 320kbs, plugged it in and it worked first time. The sound quality is absolutely fantastic. Only problem that I can see so far is for organisation purposes, you can use a main folder i.e. RadioHead and put their albums in that folder, but when it displays on screen, it ignores the folder and only displays the album folders. It would have been nice to have been able to select, main folder, then sub-folder and then tracks, but that is not really a complaint, just lazyness. So the hard drive with a USB 2.0 fat32 definately works, when I get a chance, I will take some screen shots and some photos and upload them as a walkthrough process for everybody.

And as for the car, that I have now had for three weeks and only done 300 miles, all I can say is WOW....... I love every minute.

iTunes imports as AAC as standard, but you can go into Prefernces and convert them to MP3. You can even change the rip settings to rip as MP3 (at varying compression rates) instead of AAC. I thought MP4 was a video file...and although iTunes will play that, it has to be .m4v for iPhone or Touch.

As I started the ball rolling on this one, I think I can now inform all my friends , who gave me suggestions as to correcting the problem with my Memory stick, not being recognised by the Cars Electronics system...............................I bought a new Stick. All is now well and firing on all cylinders. Thanks again

Hey !
My english language is no good, but try understand me. ;)

I have music as follows > over 3000 pieces in 160 contents (mp3 - 192 kbit/s), about 12 gigabyte in my pc. This music must store to USB- stick.
Works 16 Gt memory stick in Peugeot connect USB ?
is that slowly to connect and play music ?
Is better use 4 GB or 8 GB stick ?
