Hi all, I spoke to a friend who knows someone who could remap my 200THP. I asked him to find out how much and what the gains would be. The price seems reasonable and the gain would be about 30bhp, but the guy says that he can't do it via the OBD port on the car, (it is a Peugeot thing, apparently) and I have to remove the ECU and take that to him. It all sounds a bit odd to me, so i was simply wondering if this was the case for anyone else.

Might explain their cost if you do have to, but I don't know :)
The price is €230, about 200 quid i guess, (I live in Germany, a consequence of a military career), but I would prefer it if it was all done and set up in the car. I will see how easy it is to get the ECU out and then decide. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

You will get more power for less fuel efficiency & it can cause other issues if your car has underlying problems I nearly remapped mine but the car refused to acknowledge the software programme the guy tried to use?
If you go ahead have it done by a proper company with a rolling road & not a laptop cowboy !

I agree with Plasma, maybe find a reputable tune company that handles everything for you instead of "a friend of a friend". I paid 300EUR for a 32 BHP remap. They used a dynamometer (rolling road or whatever that thing is called) and a guarantee was included in their service.

I will see if I can find someone like that. I am none to happy about the fact that I have to remove the ECU. When my friend said about this chap he knows, it all sounded very professional. He would remap it and then test it and adjust things to get the optimum performance and drivability out of it, but then, when he found out that it was peugeot, he mentioned removing the ECU and bringing that to him. Which means that he isn't going to test it and set everything up as I was initially told he would.

It all depends on which ECU your car is running one you can write to directly via the OBD the other has software protection the ECU has to be removed and written directly to, this is no problem to a specialist and the ECU is easily removed once the shear bolt is removed 😉
Mine had to be removed from the car but I trusted the guy doing it and have never looked back best mod you can do especially on the 156👍
