Rear view mirror broken.

So the heatwave has uncovered a minor fault hidden by a previous owner, the rear view mirror has been broken off the windscreen and then glued back in place, problem is the bracket that holds it place on the windscreen is missing so it's a new windscreen neaded, this is no problem as covered on my insurance, but was wondering how the mirror clips on to the windscreen as I've been told it should have a triangle clip mine does not have this.

This is all I could find. Not sure it helps though, as it does look triangular.
