Hi' my daughter has a 2012 RCZ Petrol. It was over fueling and broke down the mechanic replaced the coils plugs, lamba sensors, the issue was still there. We paid to get the ecu tested due to multiple fault codes and it passed all tests. Another mechanic diagnosed the it was the Throttle body so we bought a new one, then they said, it was showing a short circuit so we had an auto electrician check all of the wiring and no faults found. They have contacted a retired Peugeot mechanic who when heard the fault codes without knowing the car said its an RCZ isn't it? . He said its the high pressure fuel pump and the injectors. So my mechanic tells me this will be a hugely expensive job and it might better to auction the Car. Really looking for any advice as to what to do the car has been off the road now for about 6 weeks. Thanks in advance.

Hi Thank you yes I've found a new replacement pressure pump on e Bay £150 so sent it to the mechanic. The idea is to get this car fixed then sell it. Thanks for your reply when you've had to replace so many parts it feel never ending.

Thank you. It's my daughters Car. Sadly though this is definately going once its fixed. She's been driving my TT for the last 6 weeks. Lovely car the RCZ only done 52K and looks ama, zing in Black, but seems pretty temperamental especially the petrol ones.might run forever once sorted who knows,. Such a shame but she's looking for a 4 door vehicle once this is sorted. Thanks so much for the advice

Do you know what the fault codes are? There is an option to reconditioned the high pressure fuel pump. This person has been getting good reviews refurbishing this part. Looking at the ebay I think he might have messed up his pricing 1.6 THP High pressure fuel pump Mini Cooper. Peugeot RCZ. Repair service | eBay

Add me to the good reviews.

He came across very well with our exchanges. The car is driving 100% with the refurbished HPFP.

It's about £145 if you send your own pump.

The multiple fault codes don't necessarily mean multiple repairs are needed. I recently had 3 fault codes, with one of them reading 'camshaft misalignment'. The problem was a faulty coil causing the engine to misfire, something that caused the camshaft sensor to send the 'camshaft misalignment' fault.

If I haven't had the timing chain kit replaced last December, I may have taken the expensive repair route.

I hope replacing the HPFP will fix the issue. 🤞

I've read so many stories where people take their car with fault codes to some mechanic who mis-diagnoses the problem. The owner then thinks there are soooooo many things wrong, "I better sell the car." Most issues I've read about are actually very minor. These misleading fault codes are more of a problem than people realise. Find a good mechanic who can solve the problem without relying on the fault codes.

Yes because of the multiple fault codes we sent the ecu to be tested. We clearly have spent time and money on some wrong parts. Hoping we're getting to the bottom of it now. Ass it's definately over fueling I hope this fuel replacement pump does the trick. Thank you for you valuable advise.

I completely agree, it's clear weve been down too many dark alleys . Thank you.

Has it been on the correct diagnostic equipment?
Generic readers can be way off the mark with Peugeot/Citroen stuff.

Well my mechanic used his diagnostic then got another mechanic to use his as he said he had the best diagnostic gear available however he misdiagnosed throttle body which has now been replace and a wiring short which he was also wrong about. Goi g to my original post a guy they spoke to retired Peguot mechanic allegedly says its a million percent high pressure fuel pump and injectors. Preety fed up with it all but kinda just have to keep on going with it, as so much has been replaced and checked. It'd be great to get the pump checked before actually buying one so I'll ask about that tomorrow. Thank you.

I only ever used Diagbox or PP2k on my Peugeots. I made the mistake of taking one of my 407s to a "specialist" and they couldn't even access the dial cluster to remove the TPS flag that you need to when you fit rubber valves to them. So for about 2 months I kept getting beeps and flashing lights. "We don't know why it's doing it mate"

So I bought a laptop and Diagbox interface. It's the software dealers use. It does EVERYTHING. Resetting codes, monitoring live data, VIN coding.

I agree so many posts with issues that owner's have then thrown £000s at as a result of apparently inept 'mechanics or Techs' that have no real clue what they are doing and aimlessly replace things at the Owner's expense hoping to find the solution; then blame the RCZ as unreliable. Yep it has issues but there are not that many and are well documented on here and the net, the hpfp being one of them.

Not at all mechanically minded, but the mechanic had his Bosch diagnostic and then employed another guy who he reckoned had the very best diagnostics. That didn't work out however. Cheers!
