2011 200gt : P1062 + P1030 fault codes ' variable valve shaft lift pinion' - advice please - engine running fine, occasional yellow engine light last few days, ticking from engine all temps for few mths

Main dealer wants £280 to inspect but is suggesting car be written off as will need new head! 65k and always run fine, main dealer serviced (by them)

Sister's main car and needed for work commute URGENT HELP please!

It took a lot of work for him to finally narrow down the problem, which from memory was related to wear in the intake camshaft bearings. If this is the case with yours then the only solution is a new motor/cyl head.

dont u just love modern engine design..... fit everything with a crate Chevy small block and sit back for a few laps of the globe...?!

doubt it, just up for timing chain replacement based on age, not mileage

The tensioner may be one of the issues as there a known pain on all these engines & its a chain rattler when their worn

Can chain health and tensioner be checked with just camcover off - if not what else / cost required to check?
