Total Ineo ecs 5w.30 semi synthetic that is the oil grade in the official RCZ Handbook some owners appear to be using 0,30 but with the HPT Engines its nor effective enough for long term operational performance & protection of the vulnerable components

Try to not let the oil level drop low enough for the warning light. The RCZ is ver susceptible to issues if the oil level isn’t kept near the top of the dipstick. Frequent oil checks are essential.
Fwiw, I use Petronas in mine, if it’s good enough for Lewis Hamilton...........

My R hasn't used a drop of oil in 12,000.

Mine also has Petonas in at the moment as that's what the garage used.

Lidl had 1l top ups the other week for £7.99 if they have any left. That's less than half the price of Halfords.

My local Peugeot dealer told me Peugeot are now recommending Total 0w-30 ineo first it’s the oil Peugeot originally filled the new engines with.

Yes but he works in a dealership where most of the services are done under warranties I say private owners should use their own initiative whereby if the car has mid range to upper mileage the Engine should be running on a Viscosity of 5.30 semi synthetic due to wear & tear & as I have previously quoted before it states in the handbook to use 5.30 so who is kidding who when it comes to shelling out the money for a service & lets not forget Garages buy in bulk so its usually all the same spec ie 0.30 so there not bothered just so long as the works been done properly

I see what you are saying there but the conversation I had with the service manager at my local dealers (who are highly regarded by Peugeot Uk) were more conversational rather than him trying to sell, he said Peugeot UK had told them to use 0w-30 ineo first instead of the 5w-30.

Yes Neil I know where your coming from regarding Peugeot & the service manger I spoke to also endorsed using 0.30 possibly because they have a massive plastic tank of the stuff at the back of the workshop which is definitely not Total oil according to my mate on the spanners so its swings & roundabouts when it comes to what goes in where I personally prefer to have peace of mind when servicing a car & with engine oil I'll still use the Peugeot recommended Total Ineo 5.30 as the car runs smooth & I have no chain or VVT rattle from cold start

It pisses me off the liberties that Main Dealers and the motor trade in general take with what's paid for by the customer versus what is actually provided. Not changing cabin filters and charging £64 for the benefit it is basically theft/fraud, not providing the correct grade or specified oil, cheap generic parts when OE are charged. I get the R done at the MD as it prevents any issues when claiming on the Warranty, otherwise I would be at my trusted BMW/Mini Specialist. It has opened my eyes since owning the R and being on Peugeot related sites (realise it's most marques etc) just how many people are being ripped off, fobbed of and BS'd by garages and supposed mechanics many of who it seems are thoroughly inept.

That said the actual workmanship and care of my car by the most recent MDs has been very good, not so previously.

You just don’t know really that’s why I’ve moved my servicing to a small independent pug specialist and I supply the oil 👍

Have always serviced my own car that way I know exactly what goes in it. Even changed the auto gearbox oil at 60,000 (of course it needs servicing, it's a mechanical system!) Cabin filter is one of the easiest I have ever changed. The air filter is one of the worst!!

Recently had a conversation with one of the French RCZ owners admin and he said Peugeot changed the recommended oil from 5w-30 to 0w-30 when they changed the service intervals from 20k to 10k.
