A recent trawl through the for sale section of this forum reminded me of a time when I bought a custom made armrest from a fella in Germany for my Audi TT in 2007. it was ox blood red and it was to match the leather interior. I paid €400 for it.
At the time the economy was booming and wages were high and money was plentiful and I don't remember at the time thinking it was too expensive or excessive.
I almost certainly would not be able to spend that amount these days .....

anyone else care to share their experiences of expensive or ridiculous purchases....

Re: most expensive/ridiculous thing you've bought for your c

£350 carbon fibre rear defuser £300 to repaint my rear bumper because there was a slight blemish in the paint (paint guy at Peugeot said it wouldn’t have bothered him but it did me!) £300 to freshen up my black graphics (they were starting to fade) and I’m booked in for a £600 custom quad exhaust system and looking at some new Alloys £3600 + delivery from USA but they’ll have to wait a while!

It seems to turn into a bit of an obsession this RCZ ownership!

Re: most expensive/ridiculous thing you've bought for your c

Great topic

There are so many of those...
How about custom made exhaust headers for an V8, crafted in the USA, imported to Europe and actually never put on the car?
I still have them sitting in the barn. They have costed me about a grand.
Maybe one day I will find the time to put them on the car. It isn't a plug&play job as it requires to move the steering rack a little bit and do other modifications to the lower frame part of the car. I hope no cutting is required.

In 1969 I obtained a passenger for not a great sum.
But I still have her and don't feel inclined to do the sums, or it could be a frighteningly large figure (don't mention large figures, either! :eusa-shhh: ).

I did a few bits that seem pointless on my old 420d lol. I havent done much to the 440i yet.

£170 for carbon mirror caps
£50 for a usb port and cable
£1,000 for 4 speakers and an amp
£310 for a carbon fibre spoiler
£10 for carbon vinyl stickers that go over the badges
£50 for exhaust tips
£180 for a rear diffuser
£100 for side stripes

Im now looking at a few other bits:

£250 on BMW child seat
£250 carbon fibre gear selector trim
£150 on carbon fibre handbrake handle
£700 on Carbon fibre front splitter
£180 on another diffuser
£150 on side skirt extensions

I think thats about it lol.

800 euro for tyres

a friend of mine put the same tyres but his wheels are 225/40/18 (235/45/18 mine) and paid 430!

twice the price for some inches more... :brickwall:

Re: most expensive/ridiculous thing you've bought for your c

I had a Rover 420 saloon when I was younger I spent a bit too much on that.
Fully adjustable suspension, new alloys, manifold back stainless exhaust, speakers, amp and new head unit. I had a Saxo before that I did pretty much the same too, but just put springs on it not a full suspension kit.
My Peugeot 508 GT got a £350 wheel refurb and the same on tyres on the same day.
And the only thing I've done to my RCZ so far apart from a few led bulbs is a new exhaust.
