The cruise control saga is still rumbling on and yesterday a garage finally managed to come up with and code which was hidden away from the normal run of the mill diagnostics.

The code of P1664 - Engine ECU: Internal fault (Engine Torque)

I was advised that a Main Dealer would have to investigate as there was probably a software update that might cure the problem. The car is 11 years old and it appears from the service book the car has never been serviced by a Main Dealer so an update could be the answer.

Has anyone experienced this code and if so, what was the outcome?

Engine Torque coherence fault it means that the ECU is detecting greater Torque applied to the engine than is admissible sometimes if you persistently reach the torque limiter stage through red lining the car it can go into limp mode but normally once you have switched off & restarted the ECU has reset the parameters if it does not then you may have software corruption in the system

I suspect software corruption as I have never redlined the revs. Hopefully sorted out soon

Never redlined the revs 😱

It’s an RCZ !! The only time NOT to redline it is when approaching a police car from behind 🚓

Apparently, if you’re taking your driving test in your RCZ and the examiner asks “ why should you change down gears as you approach traffic lights?” The answer they’re looking for ISN’T “ so that if they go red before you get there you can floor the throttle & shoot through “ 🤔

Lond story short.

A Independant Peugeot specialist has removed the code P1664 from the ECU, however if I switch the cruise control on again the code will return. The solution is to replace the ECU at a cost £1250 and with no guarantee that the code would not return.
As I don't use cruise control very oftern, I decided not to change the ECU.

I wonder as the code is now in the ECUs memory log it will reappear (Ghost code) because something in the system is triggering a electronic fault ie switch or wiring issue maybe?
