What on earth is it for? Surely the boot is big enough without the need for this... thing?!

On a personal note I think it's a lot of money for something so ugly... As 2retro.said the boot is big enough if not drop down the rear seats..

Can't help thinking it's the wrong way up in these pics?

Surely the round bit which sticks up should be at the rear, to brace whatever is being carried against the forward momentum of the car?

You could be dead right unless they all drive in reverse on Chinese roads ?😁
