Noticed this on Whatcar  Seems they are not keen on the RCZ

I've read just about all of the RCZ reviews over the last few months whilst waiting to take delivery and to be honest even though I've only had my 2013 HDI GT a very short time i am struggling to agree with any of the negative points. Ok I may have rose tinted glasses on at the moment but come on guys give the girl a fair crack of the whip. Having said that I've only done 225 miles. I'll get back to you in another 1000. :)

However most owner reviews are positive.

I've noticed that professional reviews are a real mix of positive and negative and I guess that's because, as Mr Rizzle often says, people's opinions of cars are very subjective.

The only real negative I have with the car is the ride which is harder than I'd like. Must go for the soft suspension option next time!

You really do become accustomed to the hardness of the ride. I used to notice it but no longer. The fun of driving it however never goes away. The handling (possibly due to the stiffness of the suspension) is simply amazing

Mrs seamus suffers from horrendous travel sickness. She absolutely loves the ride of our RCZ. We had a Citreon with hydro active suspension a few years ago. She was as sick as a dog in this. Far too smooth. :-(

I wouldn't have the ride any other way, it is a sports car. Except for the front wheel drive bit, but I accept that for the benefit of the boot area.

I'm just on 7,000 kilometers of my thp200, it's a constant delight. I just want to stop the noise from the seat belt buckle squeaking against the seat leather.

As for reviewers, it may depend on expectations and pound per punch value. The rcz suits a particular window that not everyone can appreciate, for many reasons.

But I'm also spoilt, with all the options and 19" wheels, leather, jbl sound, sensors all round, vision pack (which performs way beyond my expectations, they are sensational and need to be experienced on dark country roads, they are literally brilliant).

Oh, I do wish the gear knob was contoured, but it's still very sweet to use, changing gears feels just right, not easy japaneasy, very nicely engineered gear box (amazing low end range, then the top end is still always available, just burst up those revs).

One last point, the speedo is down by five kilometers an hour, so any review that uses the in car speedo is actually over stating acceleration etc.

I thought that about the speedo. I used my Tom Tom in Monday and discovered a similar issue. Glad you are loving your car. :)

The speedo is the same on all cars - they are not allowed to read over but can be upto 7% under or some such. Generally this means that with tolerances being what they are in manufacture they are all low by an amount. At least this means you won't be speeding because your speedo is out...

Ron, I expect you're right! It's still early days (after years in much softer riding cars) and after some of the other replies I'm feeling a bit of a sissy.....

Seriously though I really appreciate all other aspects of the car and you're probably right that the stiff suspension and phenomenal handling go hand in hand, especially at the relatively reasonable price of an RCZ which doesn't allow for a particularly sophisticated suspension set up. :)

The other problems with the incorrect speedo include car travel logs (and tax returns) as well as final mileage when you go to sell the car. (you also get it serviced too soon, more often).

As mentioned above, get a Tom Tom / gps, then you'll see the real speed and what I'm talking about.

My previous car, a BMW, was down generally by a bout 3 to 4 percent, the rcz is 5%.

My mothers Hyundai i30, or maybe her previous excel, was spot on, the speedo and navigators closely matched.

My first RCZ went back (clutch problem)

The replacement has been faultless .(replaced by Peugeot France)

Loved the car, hated UK dealerships terrible service though.

I tend to agree here with Ron, you will get used to the hard ride AND road noise. I slagged the Z off for this and still think it could be better but you just get used to it and forget about it, in fact it's only now that's it's mentioned do I think back about it, just gotta try and blank it out again now

I just don't understand why people are complaining about ride and noise.

Are you driving on corrugated roads at 200 km/h? Were you riding in Bentleys before?

It's a two door sports car, low, and built like a go kart. It's noise and road holding are precisely what I would expect, I wouldn't want it any other way.

You're making me nervous, sounding like a mob of hair dressers. :)

The hardness and ride is well documented. :eusa-whistle:

It aint a drivers car

Av owned even harder suspensioned cars but the rewards for road holding where better and coming from that type of car the rcz aint that bad a ride its just what you have been used prior to owning a rcz  Them 19" and no independant rear suspension are to blame  electronically oil filled dampers are the cure

I really wouldn't like or enjoy a car that felt any harder underneath or one that gave more road noise than the Z, for me the ride and road noise on the Z is right on the limit.

Could be my age, dodgy ear drums, piles, or just a fussy taff

Road noise...what road noise?! I can't hear any of it over my tunes (and occasional vocal accompaniment)!!!:D
