the ride is not a 'compromise'. It's the way it should be. I can't understand why you're complaining about the ride being to firm in a roadster..

maybe i have a different ride to you. I drive the THP200 with 19" rims. The car has almost every extra other then the sat nav (don't want it anyway). Yes, it is firm, but as I keep saying, it's to be expected and I enjoy it.

maybe those that think the ride is too firm should have bought a volvo, i don't know what you were thinking with the rcz ;) it's just a null and void complaint.

as for the dashboard and the very nice amber speedo - it's first rate. I didn't realise how good it was until I had to drive a corolla or hyundai or some such the other day - the speed display was almost invisible (well, for me now, trying to find a speed dial is so last century). the poor display of the other car had no back lighting or simple digital readout. My eyes really had to hunt for the speedo. I'd forgotten how bad that technology is.

and, the rcz is not over priced. the feature set you get is first rate. there are a few short cuts in the engineering to help keep the price down, but the completed package is a very high bang per buck ratio.

i know that on the pricing as it was a big decision for me to spend that much money on a car. but the more I looked the more the rcz costing looked very convincing.

i found my car, fully optioned and pre built, at a dealership. It was just the perfect spec for what I wanted, with everything. I didn't have to wait more then a week to pick her up. I took one, 10 klm test drive. The car is big, roomy, huge boot, great looking roadster. I was sold straight away - after I had done all my homework on the car prior.

for those who say the car is not a sports car, not a driver's car, not a roadster... well, I tell you what, .. why do the tyres cost about four times as much as a standard set. For one thing, they have almost 50% more surface area in contact with the road then conventional tyres. The gripping and feeling is more intense then your average machine. If those tyres aren't for a driver's car, then what the hell is?

i took the asian car i mentioned around a corner that I usually cruise thru in the Z. you should have heard the tyres screaming and felt the body sway.. i couldn't wait to get back to my car :)

uk car industry RUN/OWNED BY GERMANS thanks too Maggie now we are just ONE BIG CALL CENTER..........Anyhow

ME in my personal opinion the RCZ dashboard is old...........The FEEBLE 1.6cc engine belong's soley too smaller cars...ie mini/ds3 which are so much lighter

Tell what's the Kerb Weight of a rcz gt compared to the cars that share the same engine :eusa-think:

And its over priced into the bargain
The dash definitely needs colour screens rather than orange but I'm interested to hear what else you mean by old?

It is a heavy beast though and I'm sure the engine is livelier in the Mini etc. Power to weight ratio is the key and it doesn't score massively well there. But me, I think of the RCZ as a GT so it doesn't feel lacking. Guess it depends on expectations.

The expectations is in the Price dave its very expensive for a French Car and offer's nothing unique barring its STYLING No great engineering just grabbing bits and pieces from lesser Brands
I mostly agree here...but...

I know it's a cliche and a bit of a simplification but the first TT was just a Golf in a fancy frock and it didn't hurt Audi. The TT increased Audi's public perception and maybe that's Peugeot's hope here... Gotta start somewhere after all and there's nothing else remotely close in their model line up and hasn't been before either. The RCZ is not something souped up from a lesser variant the way Peugeot's GTi models are, despite the RCZ's underpinnings coming from those models. Most people simply wouldn't know the Genesis of the RCZ. Enthusiasts yes but not the general public and it's them who I think Peugeot would like to look at the RCZ and think hey, Peugeot are more interesting than I thought...

Fundamentally it's all about marketing, car manufacturers are businesses first and foremost and car enthusiasts second (at best) ;-)

And that, in my opinion, is a GOOD thing. I've had an Audi A3 (newest 8V model) for a day last week, and didn't like all that blinky stuff on the dashboard. Fuel, temperature...most meters are white LEDs now simulating conventional meters. Looks odd. Even a digital display showing numbers looks better.

But the looks are highly subjective of course, so if someone does not like it that's completely okay.

Facts follow below :)

I agree on the power to weight ratio compared to a Mini but, feeble?

I can only speak for the 200 THP version, but on a German Autobahn the RCZ with 200 hp gives my current car (an Audi A5) a VERY hard time between 30 mph and 135 mph because of this engine and the great gear ratios. It IS a bit slower, though, and at higher speeds my car accelerates much better due its pure power/torque.
But we're comparing 200 HP / 275 Nm to 245 HP / 500 Nm. Not too bad for the lesser engine to be in the same league.

And for the hard suspension, well, it's a sports car. The one in my A5 (which is also a dedicated sports suspension and cost an arm and a leg) is as hard as well. That's the price you pay for good handling.

Don't get me wrong, the RCZ has its downsides as well, but the engine and suspension do certainly NOT belong to them.
It's so un-French in this regards that it's the first time ever that I want to buy a Peugeot. And, for what it offers, it's actually not a very expensive car.

I also have the 200bhp version and rarely feel it to be underpowered, especially for UK driving conditions (I'd like to keep my license!). In fact I think it's a brilliant little engine which gives very good performance together with excellent fuel economy. Having moved from diesel to petrol for the first time in several years I am also impressed by it's flexibility.
