As above guys I’m finding my 235 are practically flush to the rim of the car and with the Mrs driving kerbing is her speciality…
So I’m thinking 245 will save the rims from kerbs….any thoughts on clearance etc?….

I’ve heard of owners using the 245’s weather they save the rims is another story, some tyres have bigger rim protectors than others when I bought my car it came with Acceleras on they had a massive protector built into the tyre and they had taken a beating from the previous owner without marking the alloys

Had them fitted to the rear this week 245..Even though car is lowered all round roughly 1" and running 20mm spacers on the rear clearance is good plus the tyre edge is slightly over the rim of the wheel which I wanted…

Going to stick with 235 on the front though as I do get a slight inner arch wheel scrub…..

Car is fitted with Pi Springs all round roughly lowered 1"....20mm spacers on the rear...

245s sit roughly flush with top of the arch with no fouling so all in I'm happy...
Road holding is excellent....👍

Hope you don't mind me asking are the 19s an upgrade from 18s ?
I have 18" rims and not sure whether to go to 19" due to the extra weight (extra wear on suspension) and harder ride may be too much for my liking - roads in Spain generally are not smooth. I'd be interested in your opinion

I've been driving hard suspension cars for over 30 years and I'm fully used to it, I prefer it that way, my RCZ has 19" rims.

I don't think that the 19" wheels weigh more than the 18", the aluminium is bigger but there is less tire, since they have to be mounted with a 40 profile and not a 45.

Although using lower profile tires also has disadvantages:
- it is easier to scratch the rim against the curbs.
- there is more risk of breaking the tire in potholes and also deform the rim

As far as I know all the 200thp models came with 19" Rims…mines also lowered all round on pi springs roughly dropped 1"
I’ve got run flat tyres on the back and the ride is hard for my aching bones

Thanks to both of you - guess at least for now will stay with 18" rims and just look to replace tyres in a few months with the idea to increase handling and noise. With the 18" ride isn't overly hard.
Once again thanks for your input

Curbing the wheels is quite easy to do. Suggest fitting something like Rimblades which sit on the edge of the alloy. They do a super job and wouldn’t be without them.
