They did it inside, after a good cleaning of arches they told me it was pretty straight forward exept around the rubberlist which was tricky in some areas. i paid around 100euro per side...
I can only speak for myself but as mine is a mk1 almost 6 years old, the jacking point are as new.

Use a heat gun for like 10-15seconds and then carefully start removing the badge from an end.
repeat until the badge comes of.
Be carful not to burn yourself and clean the paint afterwards. Done.
I guess a hairdryer will do it to but prolly gonna take longer :)
I use navigon or waze for navigation via the iPad. It's great as the built in navi is poor.

I am not sure but I think there is issues with an aftermarket unit and the JBL amplifier. You must also add a connect2 interface to keep the control...
Or if you own a iPhone or iPad you can use "Carplay iOS" Phone or pad needs to be jailbroken but it's the best way really without messing around with aftermarket solutions.
I use my iPad mini with a T-Holder that i bought after reading this forums. ( I don't recomend anyone to order from that...
Yes it has a amplifier and its not plug and play to replace with an aftermarket unit.

I bought all my interior/exterior leds from him and they work great :)
