I need to change the coolant temperature sensor and is it possible to do this without having to remove the thermostat housing and if so, do I need to drain an amount of coolant .
RCZ 1.6 THp 2010
I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks.

You will need to bleed out the coolant to release the header pressure from the coolant tank & top hose on the rad so depending on what engine you have these may help

Pedro, thanks for the photos, they were helpful. I had to put the old sensor back in as the one I ordered from ebay wouldn't sit properly and I couldn't get the retaining clip in. Took the car for a short run to make sure everything was tight and heyho, the temperature gauge worked. The radiator water was fairly mucky so cleaned the sensor and replaced the cooling water with fresh.
Thanks again.

I forgot to let you know the sensor is unfortunately dealer only part & also the coolant tank level sensor is a Bosch as any aftermarket parts are a big no go on these Engines I will suggest though that its possible your coolant needs changing as from your post you may have a lot of contaminants in the fluid which may set the light off again once the sensor gets gunged up after a while ?

Hello dear friends, I just bought peugeot rcz 156thp.

I wanted to know where the temperature amp sensor is installed? I want to change it because most of the time it shows an error and the engine of the car is heated and the amp shows up to the end.

I feel that my car's temperature sensor is installed inside the thermostat housing and cannot be replaced. Do you think I'm right?

Sometimes it shows the right temperature, but most of the time it does.

The main problem is that I can't turn on the air conditioner because the amps show that the air conditioner is not in service. Oh, the weather here is so hot that the air conditioner can't be driven!!

I understand from what your saying the Coolant temp sensor is faulty & possibly needs replacing if its giving wrong temp settings (They are a known fault on all these RCZ engines) the fault with the Air con could be the pump is failing (Low amps) but also the sensor can fail & if it needs re gassing this also causes problems (Not working) from what your saying about the Amps have you had your battery checked recently this will also cause problems with a lot of the Electrical systems on the car as they operate a Electrical load management system which is programmed from the ECU which controls the loading from the Battery so if your battery has low power all your systems will no longer work properly or not at all (Air Con off) until battery has recharged to a normal power range

The Sensor can be removed form the housing & replaced with a new one its a fairly easy job to replace the old one 👍
