You can try a tensioner but it’s more likely to be the chain as well I also have a near enough new one as not many weeks after fitting it I had the whole lot done . Also the vanos sensor’ s do not throw up a fault code as they are only on a 12 v supply a not linked to the ecu ie. They don’t...

Also check the Vanos sensor I kept getting the ecu light on , I had this problem with it moving around in its casing an it shouldn’t . But no doubt it will need a timing kit sooner or later it as Pedro said the cam chain tension get week

If you can get the pistons out you should be ok if not it’s a new calliper an be very careful they are very week where the top dust seal is locates . I was lucky with mine . Good speed do a refurb service but I can’t remember how much they charge, good luck !
